Maine MILL

The Maine MILL project that my in-class group undertook entailed the collection of online print and media materials about the wake of the Lewiston Shootings last October. The principal goal was the collection of resources to aid the Maine MILL team in memorialzing the victims, their families, and the community response to the event.

We nine members split up the work into two groups, a print team and a media team, and further into roles researching specific categories of online print materials - news articles from students and local and national agencies.

The process of formatting, then organizing these articles across our two teams consisted of filling a Google Sheets document with linked PDFs taken from the web, under certain naming conventions with keyword tags and relevant metadata.

We worked closely with our contacts at Maine MILL to understand exactly what they were looking for, which helped us find our individual workflows. In the team, we set soft deadlines for each other and helped each other with any roadblocks. We all are pleased with the end result.
